AF system– The AF system of Sony RX100 is one of the possible reasons that takes the attention of all the photographers who basically love shooting with compact cameras. 315 dedicated phase-detection AF points can cover a wide area of the image frame at high density. The next benefit a photographer can get is the camera has hybrid solution works great in instantly identifying the desired subjects and selects the appropriate AF method as per the need. On the other hand, Canon G1X Mark II bears only 31 AF points as well as the camera doesn’t come with Hybrid solution.

Shutter speed– One of the best advantages of faster shutter speed is it leads the photographers to take crisp and blur-free stills and videos with sharply focused subjects and defocused backgrounds. And you can see that Sony RX100 V offers blazing fast 1/32000 seconds of shutter speed also ensuring that the users will not have to face the distortion issue in the images. But, Canon G1X 2 has very little shutter speed of 1/4000 only.

Continuous shooting speed– The Sony RX100 V offers higher frame rates of 24 fps, ensuring that camera can capture much more of the action each second, reducing the opportunity for action to blur. This results in producing sharper images in any kind of shooting (basically used in capturing the sports action of the intended players or subjects). Only 5fps of continuous frame rates Canon G1X Mark II offering us (very little for shooting faster actions of the target subjects).

Videos- Taking the benefits of Bionz X, the Sony RX100 V offers you the advantages of recording 4K videos with finer details with minimal moiré and noises. But, you can capture only full HD video with Canon G1X Mark II.

Verdict- Due to the lower resolution as well as bigger sensor size  of Canon G1X Mark ii camera photo diodes are large and hence captures more lights per-pixel area compared to Sony RX100 V, so we do believe that Canon G1X Mark ii will give you more clean and lowlight images. But on the other side, Sony RX100 V is one of the best and faster autofocusing camera in the range of compact line-up, plus the camera also offers the benefit of 4K video recording capability. So you decide which one you to buy.
