Outstanding AF system, 4K video capabilities and a few more in Fuji X-T2 are the great reasons to pick this camera. However, along with giving you the impressive and outstanding specifications it also costs you more than that of Pentax KP. On the other hand, Pentax also carries some best specifications in its class that outperforms many cameras coming in its range, but one big drawback of the camera we must say is its video recording capabilities that is restricted to full HD only and that is also at 30fps (not a big issue but should not be ignored!). There are so many little and big differences we might notice if we go in detailed way…
We will hardly notice any difference in the image quality because both the two cameras build on APS-C sensor plus both have similar number of effective pixels, which clearly means both will be able to produce super sharp and crystal clear images.

The AF system of Fuji X-T2 is exceptionally well that features both contrast as well as phase detect sensors, allowing the camera to track the fast moving subjects very quickly with immense accuracy and also offers rapid and precise focusing of video as well as still images. On the other hand, Fuji X-T2 allows you to utilize the creative 325 AF points to give you the immense accuracy. Approx. 40% of the imaging area is covered with phase detection AF pixels to form a fast and precise phase detection AF area that can be used in a variety of scenes. But, Pentax KP has been based on Contrast detect sensor only that may miss to acquire the accuracy, plus Pentax KP offers you SAFOX 11 phase-matching AF sensor module out of its 27 focus sensors, 25 are cross-type sensors positioned in the middle, ensuring pinpoint focus on the target subject.
Fuji X-T2 keeps it ISO level limited to 51200, whereas Pentax KP can give you the flexibility of shooting in lowlight by offering an expandable ISO range of 819200 and also allow the users to capture the detailed images in lowlight.
The Fuji X-T2 allows using maximum speed of 1/32000 that minimizes the “rolling shutter” effect resulting in reducing of distortion from the images. Moreover, shooting at wide aperture with the fast shutter speed allows photographers and videographers to capture sharp and crystal clear subjects with beautiful bokeh when shooting at bright lighting conditions. Unfortunately, Pentax KP uses the highest shutter of 1/24000 sec only.
The X-T2’s 24.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS III image sensor offers stunning image quality while and the X-Processor Pro Engine delivers 4K 30P video and up to and 8 frames per second (fps) continuous shooting. On the other hand, Pentax KP is almost falling apart that manages to offer you full HD at 30fps only.
The massive performance of Fuji X-T2 is surely winning the battle but its battery is not as stronger as KP because KP can give you around 390 shots at a time, whereas using Fuji X-T2 you can snap only 340 shots at a time.
If price matters to you then stay with Pentax KP but if you are OK with the price then Fuji X-T2 is the fabulous camera that offers you best AF system, crystal clear images etc. On the other hand one big difference is the video sections of both cameras that is why we should give less rating to Pentax KP.
