Image quality

It will be very difficult to categorize the images of two cameras according to the sharpness and clarity with your naked eyes since both the two cameras almost have similar kind of APSC sensor (size), but still we should give more preference to Pentax KP because it features comparatively bigger sensor than Canon 80D. However, both the two cameras feature 24 MP effective pixels assured you to acquire Super-high-resolution images in any kind of shooting situations.

AF system

Canon 80D has really very innovative AF system that features dual pixel CMOS AF sensor for fast and smooth AF during Live View and movie shooting. Moreover, Dual Pixel CMOS AF helps ensure focus is achieved precisely, even when switching between subjects, plus the system also excels, providing pinpoint AF and tracking even in difficult shooting conditions. On the other hand, Pentax KP has only contrast detect sensor for AF performance. Furthermore, the EOS 80D camera features an impressive 45-point all cross-type AF system that provides high-speed, highly precise AF in almost any kind of light, whereas Pentax KP features the high-speed SAFOX 11 phase-matching AF sensor module out of its 27 focus sensors, 25 are cross-type sensors positioned in the middle to assure pinpoint focus on the subject.

Image stabilization

Shooting at slower shutter speed increases the chances of blurring images upto a certain point and while shooting at crowdie areas when you shoot using your one hand. Appearance of cameras shakes while shooting at those conditions are virtually uncontrolled, but if a camera has built-in I.S mechanism then blurring issues will be easily suppressed and the camera also able to camera produce crisp images while shooting at low light areas. Excitingly, Pentax KP implements 5-Axis image stabilization system that is very effective in reducing the unwanted cameras shakes and produce very elegant images. But unfortunately, Canon 80D doesn’t have built in I.S.

The Pentax KP camera features a wide ISO range of ISO 100–819200 for stills and movies, performing brilliantly in low-light shooting even without a flash. As a result, photographers can achieve images of minimum noise at the super-high sensitivity of ISO 819200. On the other side, Canon 80D offers the expandable ISO range of 25600.

Shutter speed

Simply magnificent! The electronic shutter mode of KP provides a super-high shutter speed of 1/24000 second with reduced noise and vibration at shutter release, making it ideal for low-noise shooting in Live-view and also very effective for other applications as well. On the other hand, Canon 80D offers you faster shutter speed of 1/8000 sec only.

In this case, Canon 80D is winner that lets you take around 960 shots at a time, whereas using Pentax KP you can take almost 390 shots only.

This comparison shows you how Pentax KP is outperforming its big contender Canon 80D by offering better image quality, better lowlight performance and also superior in other sections too. Canon 80D also features outstanding specifications but its performance compared to Pentax KP is modest
