Image quality

Due to greater pixels area Panasonic GH5s can skilfully deliver you the sharp images of the subjects. 10.2 MP and 16 MP. However, both are using the same sized sensor, but on the other hand, G85 with 16 MP resolution lets the users get the large print of the subjects. There will be very close conflict between these two cameras for image quality since both have same processor and the best thing is that these two doesn’t have low pass filter that to grab detail in the lowlight conditions or any kind of shooting situation.

But one thing to be noted is ” Panasonic GH5s has newly developed 10.2MP High Sensitivity MOS sensor for enhanced image quality in low light: Allowing up to 51,200 ISO recording without extended ISO.”

AF system

Both the two cameras:  Panasonic GH5s and Panasonic G85 come with a Depth from Defocus and Contrast AF technology that works together with contrast AF technology that comprehensively calculates the distance of the subjects and analyze as per form, size and even motion of the subjects. By the way, the image sensor inside the core of GH5s features distinctive 225 AF points, allowing the users to choose focus areas as per the specific composition required and with the help of joystick located on the thumb position, they can control it easily. Meanwhile, G85 has only 49 AF points that might not be sufficient for wider coverage of shooting.

GH5s can offer an ultra-high-speed AF of approximately 0.05 second, whereas G85 is resulting in ultra-fast auto focusing of approx. 0.07 sec.

Of course, Panasonic GH5s gets the rank for its extraordinary lowlight capability that offers maximum 204800 of ISO range. The MFT Image sensor and Venus 10 image processing engine really work like a champ and results stills and movies render extra-fine detail with minimal noise. On the other hand, G85 has to offer only 25600 ISO range. The professional photographers must demand more ISO range.

Other notable features in Panasonic GH5s is its Dual Native ISO, providing low range (400) and high range (2,500) ISO environments.

Continuous shooting speed

Panasonic GH5s offers 12 fps of burst rate so that even the split second actions of the target subjects would be captured marvelously. Compared to the 12 fps of Panasonic GH5s, the  G85 offers only 9 fps so that JPEG as well as RAW shooting will be done faster. Moreover, With the help of 12 fps, sports photographers can take advantage of every single frame to seize the subject and capture stunning sports photos.

Like never before in any camera the Users of Panasonic GH5s can record stunningly smooth, high-resolution QFHD 4K video in 4096×2160 at 60p.  However the Panasonic GH5s is going to be the best since it offers 4K @60fps with no time bound and cinematographers would love to pay bucks for it. On the other hand, G85, allows you record 3840 x 2160p @ 30FPS (with time limit).  Moreover, Panasonic GH5s also added extra video features in the line to give the professional shooters never before experience.

Along with the Jaw dropping features the Panasonic GH5s is much more expensive than the G85. But Panasonic GH5s is the camera for enthusiast filmmakers and passionate videographers. GH5s offers 4096 x 2160p @ 60fps and has some standout lowlight features makes the camera one of the best camera that can grab detail images in lowlight. Panasonic G85, on the contrary, looking slower in almost every aspect compared to GH5. But G85 is for the photographers who don’t want to extend their budget but still want to have viable Mirrorless camera then just go for it.
