Panasonic G85 getting upper hand in sensor results at DxoMark

DxoMark recently tested the newly announced Panasonic G85, one member from LUMIX G Series is a rugged-design DSLM (Digital Single Lens Mirrorless) camera 16MP Four Thirds sensors and has no low pass filter, letting the users to capture sharp and detailed images. The 5-axis Dual I.S. (Image Stabilizer), boasting even more effective suppression against blurring etc.

Let’s see what DxoMark conclude about this incredible Lumix G85- They explained this Panasonic camera as a deliverer of remarkable image quality and overall the G85 is fabricated with ergonomics, features and performance. During the sensor test at DXO lab, Panasonic G85 earned 71 points, however, it’s slightly behind the 20.3-MP sensor in the top-of the range DMC-GX8 as well as the 16-MP sensor in the older DMC-GH4. Moreover, Panasonic G85 has also good dynamic range at low ISO and well controlled over noise while shooting at higher ISO.

Conclusion form DxoMark:

Panasonic’s latest DSLR-style Lumix DMC-G80/G85 is certainly an attractive blend of ergonomics, features and performance. As for sensor performance alone, the G80/85 sensor delivers impressive image quality overall. Indeed, it is not dissimilar to the 20.3 MP sensor in the high-end GX8. Perhaps that’s one reason why we’ve yet to see the 20.3MP unit used more widely. Sensor performance is of course just one aspect when weighing up the pros and cons of a new camera, or camera system where other factors such as lens choice, physical size and, of course, individual camera features and ergonomics must be taken into consideration before making a decision.
