Being the Flagship camera the Panasonic GH5s could’t able to impress us in the focusing performance! On the other hand, Panasonic G85‘s blistering AF performance really steal the moment and the best part is that among fours ( Panasonic GH5s, Panasonic GH5 and Panasonic G9) it’s the less expensive Mirrorless camera.
Recently a Professional photographer, Richard, took all the four above mentioned cameras and shot videos at 4K@24P, face detection, otherwise all default settings. Look at the video and everything will be crystal cleared you can see that how fast the G85 focusing the subject. Panasonic G9 also snaffles up and Panasonic GH5 also focusing afterwards, but the newly announced GH5s takes enormous time to focus the subjects accurately. Should we call it a slight nag? But at the same time Different lenses have been used. You can see that the first three big cameras: GH5s, GH5 and G9 are using Leica DG 12-60mm f/2.8-4, whereas G85 is working with Lumix 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6.
We won’t call it nag but you should know that the Leica lenses are specifically made for these cameras. So ultimately, G85 is obviously gets green over these cameras in AF terms.
