Our expectation from Nikon Coolpix AII

The Nikon Coolpix A camera is now tagged as “former product” on Nikon Japan, which is the indication of the arrival of its successor Nikon Coolpix AII.

A look back at the specifications of Nikon coolpix A camera

As we know Nikon Coolpix A is a compact camera with a large APS-C CMOS sensor of 16.2MP, the camera exhibits s true property of entry level DSLR. It is designed by 7 elements in 5 groups, with 1 aspherical lens. It has a fixed lens in order to optimize the best image quality at one specific focal length. The camera is best for shooting street, travel and documentary photography. The ISO range of the Nikon Coolpix A has 100-6400 and it can be further maximizing up to ISO 25,600.It supports 14-bit compressed Raw (NEF) and JPEG file formats. The limitations stands in front of coolpix A as it has contrast-detect type auto-focus. That offers slow and sluggish AF all the time. The Nikon Coolpix A camera supports full HD video at 30/25 and 24 frames per second. The users have also option to record movies in the MPEG-4 format using H.264 compression and also it includes a built -in stereo microphone.

If we look at its rivals we have Fuji X100T that features fast Hybrid AF sensor with active Phase AF points, Hybrid viewfinder and fast Lens, similarly Ricoh GR does have similar core specification but it is available at an un-beatable  price point.

Nikon Coolpix A is Discontinued by Nikon

Yes it’s a fact that Nikon the discontinuation of Nikon Coolpix A camera will definitely give path for the upcoming successor Nikon Coolpix AII.

Our Expectation

We have lots of expectation from its successor Nikon Coolpix AII.

  • We not only hope but we believe that the upcoming camera will arrive with 24MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 image processor. The combination of both sensor and processor will produce high-resolution imagery with low noise and more dynamic range.
  • If Nikon adopted Hybrid Sensor it will sure create a revolution in camera industry and we do hope this time Nikon will introduce Hybrid AF inside Coolpix A II.
  • We expect the Nikon Coolpix AII will have the native ISO of 12800, which will be further expandable to ISO range of 51200, which will be increase in two stop compare to Nikon Coolpix A camera.
  • It is expected that it will support Full HD with the resolution of 1920 x 1080pixels in movie recording and it will have more superior multiple frame rates up to 60 fps, as well as HD 720p and SD 480p in multiple frame rates compare to its predecessor Nikon Coolpix A camera.
  • Expectation of Wi-Fi connectivity as well as option of transferring images from a linked mobile.
  • Hence, we hope Nikon will implement these features on its latest upcoming Coolpix AII camera to make it superior among its rivals in coming days.
