Nikon D500 vs Samsung NX1


Though both the cameras can deliver fantastic image quality but their resolutions and sensor sizes are different. One side, Samsung Nx1 has 28.2 megapixels on the other hand Nikon D500 has larger APS-C (23.5 x 15.7 mm) sensor size. And probably both of two can snap the same quality of images. Sensor: -The Samsung NX1 features a large 28.2MP APS-C BSI-CMOS sensor while Nikon D500 has a 22MP APS-C contrast detect CMOS sensor.

Nikon D500 has advanced and upgraded EXPEED 5 Image Processor when combined with 22MP APS-C contrast detect CMOS sensor to give you a better result with high resolution images with color contrast in different situations along with magnificent image quality even in extreme in  low –light conditions  while Samsung NX1 has 28.2MP APS-C BSI-CMOS sensor supported by the fast DRIMe V Image Signal Processor and produces the well-detailed images with high resolution along with minimal noise and satisfying low-light quality images.

Nikon D500 has far superior ISO of 50-1640000 comparative to Nikon D500, which has ISO of 100-51200 only.

Nikon D500 captures 22MP images @10fps while Samsung NX1 captures 28MP images @ 15fps.

AF system:-Samsung NX1 feature hybrid contrast detect + phase detect autofocus system. The NX1 uses 205 phase and 209 contrast detection AF points to acquire quick and precise focusing. The contrast detection method fine tunes the focused area whereas the phase detection method is ideal for acquiring focus quickly while Nikon D500 comes with only 153-Point Multi-CAM 20K Autofocus System including 99 cross-type sensors for better result in recognition of the speedy subjects .

MP4 and AVI are the supported formats while the D500 offers 4K UHD video recording at 30, 25, and 24 fps frame rates and Full HD/HD recording at up to 60 fps.

Hence there is no much difference in videos qualities of both the cameras but the experts and the professional videographers like to enjoy the impressive videos with higher resolutions of Samsung NX1 compare to the videos with low resolutions of D500.


Verdict:-There is no doubt the overall performance of the Samsung NX1 is definitely superior to D500 and it is also supported by  more AF Points , higher resolution , fast continuous shooting speed and also it offers better video capturing capability compare to Nikon D500.
