Nikon D5-Low dynamic range problem

After the announcement of Nikon D5 on 5th January, 2016, the acid test has been started for the camera and hence in this regard it faced the test for base ISO dynamic range in the studio of DPREVIEW and came with undesired result.

Nikon D5 dynamic range is unfortunately looks very limited when we compare to its own siblings, for eg. when compare to Nikon D750, the sample images of D5 look inferior, contains color noise bands on the other hand the D750 images are clear and noise free.

Somehow we relate the dynamic range of Nikon D5 with Canon entry-level full frame camera Canon 6D.

Unfortunately, when we test Nikon D5 with APS-C sensor based camera Nikon D7200, the dynamic range of D7200 is better compare to D5.

Anyhow, we can’t underestimate the other advanced features of Nikon D5.Since, it is the first fullframe DSLR to offer 4K video recording.

It has large 20.8MP FX-Format CMOS Sensor and comes with Native ISO 102400 which can be extended to ISO 3280000 and better for the users to capture the images even in dim light situations without any noise (its noiseless till ISO 25600 and produces usable images till ISO 102400). It is using upgraded EXPEED 5 Image Processor and advanced autofocus Multi-CAM 20K module.

Nikon already launched Nikon D810 for those users who have a need of a camera for high dynamic range imaging at lower cost comparative to Nikon D5.
