New firmware update by Sony Only boost MF, not AF at all

Sony Alpha a7RSony released its firmware update for FE 35mm F/2.8, FE 35mm F/1.4, FE 70-200mm F/4, FE 24-70mm, FE 55mm F/1.8 and FE 28-70mm to improve the focusing performance. But, the news flashed over the web reported that the firmware update doesn’t boost the AF performance of A7 cameras like SLR cameras and according to some reports this update only improved the manual focusing more than the Auto focus area.

It was reported that the update included phase-detection AF support, recording of lens name in the EXIF correction and AF in movie recording mode use with the SEL85F14GM.

One of the key reasons why users are turning their head to mirrorless system is all due to the constant upgrades to the camera sensors and hardware, basically by Sony.
