Sigma CEO kazuto yamaki was recently interviewed by Imaging resource.
- Yamaki accepted that their business is being affected by the supply shortage. he stated “we have lots of back orders that we can’t catch up on.”
- He also said that the company is working for the development of a full frame (large senosred) camera as per the consumer’s choice.
- He stated “If we share the same lens construction for APS-C and Micro Four Thirds, then we can reduce the cost. If we make the lens just for Micro Four Thirds, possibly the price would be higher.” He also stated the reason for the low production of the MFT, he said that the demand for MFT cameras is fairly low in comparison to the APS-C and full frame.
- He also declared the reason behind the development of E mount lenses by sigma – “On the other hand, for the Sony E-mount, there aren’t so many lenses like Micro Four Thirds, so we get lots of requests.“
