Fujifilm in wait and watch mode-Medium format camera

July 16, 2016 Written by Naresh Kumar

Medium-FormatRecently dpreview team took the interview of the senior executives from Fujifilm and revealed all the information related to the future planning of Fujifilm.

They have lots of talk and asking their opinion on medium format camera. The executives from Fujifilm says “If you’re using a medium format camera and you definitely need that for the work you’re doing….. in future our goal is to satisfy everyone.”

Q: Hasselblad just released the X1D – a relatively compact medium format camera. Do you think there is an opportunity for Fujfilm in this market in the future?

A: We’re keeping our eye on that market, and the full-frame market too, but we’re still focusing on our APS-C range. […] The question of sensor size depends on what the user wants, as an output. If you’re using a medium format camera and you definitely need that for the work you’re doing, maybe APS-C is too small. But for general use, I think our [current] APS-C sensor is comparable to full-frame image quality. I think we can satisfy most people. But in future our goal is to satisfy everyone.

Are you interested in attacking the full-frame market in the future?

We’re attacking this market with our X-series. And with X-Trans III, we think that when people actually see what our cameras can deliver, we think there’s a good chance that photographers will use our X-series in the future.

The above extracts of the interview is sufficient to know and think the future strategy of Fujifilm. As we know Fujifilm is fully committed to its APS-C system.

Through their talk they gave the hint not to satisfy most people but in coming days they will satisfy everyone, which is the good indication that we may see some compact medium format camera manufactured by it.

It has also mentioned that they has kept their eyes on the market demand first, before taking any decision related to any format of camera.

It showed full satisfaction and confidence over its X-series and said that in coming days it will be the strong contender in full-frame market.

We have also published a post in November, 2015 revealed by Fujirumors. com that the Fuji has finally decided to announce an interchangeable Medium Format camera in coming days.
