Image quality

Canon G1X Mark III comes with an heavy improvement. Look at the table Canon Mark III is fabricated with 24MP APS-C sensor and latest Digic 7 image processing engine that combines together to produce stunning detailed images with massive clarity. On the other hand, Canon G1X Mark II employs 1.5″ CMOS sensor, which is comparatively smaller so we know smaller the image sensor minimum amount of light would pass. So in the comparison of these two cameras, it is clear cut that in terms of image quality, Canon G1X III is the right winner.

AF system

Its cutting edge AF system makes it DSLR like camera! Yes, the G1X Mark III features Dual Pixel CMOS AF that significantly improves the AF performance of the camera helps users get blazing fast AF response. In most of the Canon’s DSLR the innovative AF technology was tremendously featured. On the other hand, Canon 1DX Mark II doesn’t use any dedicated AF technology, however, features contrast detect AF sensor only that mayn’t be so faster in tracking the desire subjects. Moreover, the other big difference is its AF points. One side, Mark III has 49 AF points and on the other side, Mark II has 31 AF points only. So the large number helps in covering wider area of the frame enabling faster AF, wherever the subject lies.

Shutter speed

Probably the only side of Mark III where it looks inferior! Mark II with the maximum shutter of 1/4000 sec, whereas Canon G1X Mark III comes with 1/2000 sec only. So we could expect that Canon G1X II can capture the snap actions  fast moving subjects easily.

Continuous shooting speed

The Canon G1X Mark III offers higher frame rates of 09 fps, ensuring that camera can capture much more of the action each second, reducing the opportunity for action to blur. This results in producing sharper images in any kind of shooting (basically used in capturing the sports action of the intended players or subjects). Only 5fps of continuous frame rates Canon G1X Mark II offering us (very little for shooting faster actions of the target subjects).

Weather sealed

Another great advantage to rate more to Canon G1X Mark II because it comes with weather sealed body that lets you continue you photography session even in the struggling shooting situations, such as shooting in Marshy land etc. Unfortunately, Canon G1X II is not weather sealed camera, which means users should be very careful while shooting in the unfavorable shooting conditions.

Battery Life

Canon G1X Mark II allows you take 240 shots at a time, whereas Canon G1X Mark III lets you take 200 shots only.

Canon G1X Mark III costs twice the price of its predecessor “Canon G1X Mark II”, but the price really worth since the camera packs the master specifications inside, such as APS-C image sensor, Dual Pixel AF SENSOR etc. So if you want a compact and lightweight camera with Rich specifications then Canon G1X Mark III is absolutely perfect. You can go for it.
