we will discuss more on the difference of these two cameras but you should know that there would probably be no difference in the image quality of these two cameras because these two employ same sensor and resolution. Then come to its AF system that is also the replica. Yes! Both use Dual Pixel CMOS AF system for blazing fast focusing performance. Means offers fast and precise autofocus and lock down onto the subject in just seconds. Moreover, the two cameras let you record Full HD video @60fps etc.

Now come to its difference!

Image stabilization

Image stabilization mechanism inside any camera protects the image from the negative effects of uncontrolled camera shakes that mostly arise while shooting in the areas where the amount of light is very low. Thankfully, to counter these unwanted and uncontrolled camera shakes Canon EOS M5 comes with 5-axis I.S mechanism that comfortably allows you to get crisp and blur-free videos. Blur due to movement in the horizontal and vertical, yaw and pitch (tilting) and roll directions are all digitally minimized in-camera. On the other hand, Canon Canon G1X Mark III features Optical image stabilizer that can also control camera shakes but not so effectively.

Display

The EOS M5 also comes with Large 3.2″ 1.62m-dot touchscreen LCD for shooting videos and stills at a variety of angles, high or low, with up to 85° up, 180° down.

Shutter speed

Canon EOS M5 lets the users to shoot at maximum aperture without worrying about overexposing the image since the camera offers faster shutter speed of 1/4000 sec, allowing fast action to be captured, effortlessly. On the other side, Canon G1X Mark III has limited shutter speed of 1/2000 sec only.

Shots

You can take 295 shots at a time with Canon EOS M5 while only 200 shots one can take with Canon G1X Mark III.

Weather Sealed

One great advantage of Canon G1X Mark II is that it is weather sealed means it is dust and water resistant so that one can take it to the challenging shooting situations. Unfortunately, Canon EOS M5, fails to ring the bell in this matter.

Verdict

Canon G1X Mark II is partly a very wonderful powershot camera yet lightweight and compact, however, in some cases it lags behind from EOS M5, but its strength is its weather sealed body that makes it way. EOS M5 is a good camera for the video lovers.
