Canon EOS M6 vs. Canon EOS M5

Why Canon released EOS M6 if they had to copy everything of Canon EOS M5? It is actually a very genuine question that must be circulating in the minds of the photographers who decided to by EOS M6 or EOS M5. Hardly three to four month after the announcement of Canon EOS M5 they also announced its successor by just borrowing the features of predecessor. From top to bottom, in the table, we can’t see any big difference…

Both feature same numbers of effective pixels and using the same Image processor. Thankfully, both have Dual pixel CMOS AF system, but Canon EOS M6 could have maximum numbers of AF system. Unfortunately, Canon doesn’t feel the need to change the AF numbers and wanted to keep the same numbers in EOS M6 as of M5. When EOS M5 was announced in November last year the camera was castigated for not implementing 4K video feature. Once again, we were expecting EOS M6 to be a 4K mirrorless camera, but Canon didn’t let it happen.

However, the price of Canon EOS M6 is comparatively lower than EOS M5, which is one advantage you can get. But why the price of Canon EOS M5 is higher because it gives you Large 3.2″ 1.62m-dot touchscreen LCD that can be tilted up 85° and down 180°, which is ideal for composing pictures at high and low angles with ease. Furthermore, the built-in high-resolution electronic viewfinder on the EOS M5 camera features approximately 2,360,000 dots to give to rich details of the subjects while shooting in the bright light conditions.
