Canon 1DX Mark II vs Sony A7R II

Megapixel—Sony A7R II assures exceptionally high quality images as due to its Bionz X processor, the camera will much more capable of producing sharp and elegant images when its BSI-CMOS sensor combines with Bionz X processor. A7R II has 42 effective Megapixels, which is more than that of its competitor, Canon 1Dx mark II (20mp). Through the elegant images of Sony A7R II, you can keep your clients happy and in return, they might be ready to pay you premium for it. By the way, sensor sizes of both the camera are equal, full frame (35.9 x 24 mm).

Image stabilization-Also, a powerful 5-axis Image stabilization has been engineered in A7R II that enables every photographer to face any kind of camera shake problem and provide handheld shooting. Even without changing the ISO setting, users can get the clear shot in minimal lighting due to this technology. On the other hand, 1DX mark II doesn’t have this effective image stabilization.

AF System- Though, both 1DX mark II as well as A7R II does have the hybrid AF system but Sony is sitting far from the Canon in the case of AF points. The image sensor of A7R II features 399 focal-plane phase-detection AF points that combined with 25 contrast AF points to achieve the faster focus of the subjects with premium accuracy. But look at the phase AF module of Canon 1DX mark II, only 61 AF points with 41 cross-type points are present. However, this 1dx mark II camera comes with dual pixel CMOS AF system, and two separate photodiodes engineered within each pixels that provides us densely phase detection element throughout the imagery sensor that effectively reduces the focus hunting to improve the focusing results.

ISO- So many times it’s seen that shooting in lowlight situation is daunting task for the photographers and they also lose the excitement of shooting at this kind of situations. But Canon 1DX mark II offers an expandable ISO range of 409600, so that photographers can experience lesser noise shooting at lowlight with 20.2 Megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. On the other hand, Sony has Expandable ISO range of 102400 only.

Continuous shooting speed- No doubt Sony A7R II is an impressive camera but its allows us to shoot only at 5fps which much lesser that that of Canon, which is capable of shooting up to 14 fps full-resolution RAW or JPEG, and up to 16 fps in Live View mode with new Dual DIGIC 6+ Image Processors.

Videos- You can record 4K video (4096 x 2160) up to 60 fps, with an 8.8-Megapixel still frame grab in camera and Full 1080p HD capture up to 120 fps for slow motion via Canon 1DX mark II. On the other hand the Sony A7R II, allowing to record movies in 4K quality (QFHD 3840×2160).

Display- Canon 1DX mark II camera’s 3.2-inch touch panel TFT LCD monitor has approximately 1.62 million dots, anti-reflective construction and also features Canon’s Clear View LCD II technology for bright, sharp display for any kind of shooting situations.

Verdict- Sony A7R II has been a solid camera that implements every needful specification for excellent photography like the award winning AF system and having 42 mp effective resolution, so that any photographers must get paid with their desire fees by their clients.
