Canon 1D X Mark II coming with 15+ Stops of Dynamic Range

A couple of days ago, we published that the upcoming Canon EOS-1D X Mark II will sport a newly developed 22MP full frame sensor, lower than the previous rumored 24MP sensor.

Now according to CR, it is expected that the upcoming camera will come with 15+ stops of dynamic range, which is one stop more than the previous rumored specification.

Since the increase in dynamic range makes the performance of Canon EOS-1D X Mark II more superior.

Normally the manufacturer increases the dynamic range of the digital camera for those cameras which have lower ISO speeds, to resolve the problems related to it.

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark II with a large dynamic range will able to capture shadow detail and highlight detail at the same time.

So, due to advancement in the sensor development technology, the Canon will increase its dynamic range so that the large pixels of the camera will collect more photons in the shadow areas before the bright ones start to overflow.

Hence, it is expected that the upcoming Canon EOS-1D X Mark II will come with lower ISO range, so the company has increased the dynamic range to overcome the problems during photography.

The Updated rumored specs of Canon EOS-1D X Mark II:

  • New 22mp full frame Canon sensor
  • 80+ AF Points
  • New processor technology
  • 15+ stops of dynamic range

  • 4K video (max frame rate unknown)

It will be announced in CP+ Show which will be held in February, 2016 in Japan and the shipment of the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II will be started in April, 2016.
