Canon 200D VS Canon 100D

Image quality

Canon 200D is responsible for the tack sharp images even in lowlight since its features impressive 24.2 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor and DIGIC 7 Image Processor. On the other hand, Canon SL1 comes with 18 MP Resolution. But, Canon SL1 has large pixels area that nicely increases the light gathering ability of the camera so we can expect better lowlight performance in this camera.

AF system

Dual Pixel CMOS sensor – A very inventive and highly effective technology Canon use in SL2 to give users sky-level focusing performance. Means with the help of this technology SL2 gives very precise focusing of the desired subjects even if it is in motion. Luckily, both have same 9-AF points with Contrast as well phase detection AF system so that instant and fast focusing of the subjects will be effectively done. Above all, Canon SL2 incorporates a fully featured optical viewfinder with a wide-area, 9-point AF system designed to achieve sharp focus very quickly.

ISO

Looking at the ISO range 51200 of SL2 we can expect very detail images of the subjects in lowlight without flash. With the help of innovative Digic 7 Noise-reduction technology SL2 could be able to get crisp images in lowlight. On the other hand, Canon SL1 has sensitivity of 25600 plus its has a bit traditional Image processing engine, which we think is not as good as Digic 7 in noise reduction efficiency.

Continuous drive

Canon SL2 features 5fps, whereas SL1 avails 4fps. Difference of 1 fps doesn’t create a big difference, but still we prefer SL2 for its superior ability to capture split second action.

Video

Other big difference is the video quality. Canon SL2 offers Full HD video @60fps, whereas Canon SL1 offers Full HD @30fps. Furthermore, smooth moving images for playback, or for sharing videos on social media the SL2 is great.

Weight and size

Though we are calling SL2 a lightweight and compact camera but not like SL1. Yes SL1 still has the ticket of being called the compact and lightweight DSLR in the Canon’s territory.

Verdict

The users who want robust specifications in pocket camera then SL2 looks straight to you. SL1 is lagging behind SL2. One of the best features Canon SL2 has “Dual Pixel CMOS Sensor” and its effective resolution. Go and grab SL2 – A great travelling camera infront of you.
