Now the newly born Pentax KP has to go through one of its best possible and senior competitor 7D Mark II to show its electrifying performance in various shooting situations. However, from this table one thing looks very confirmed that Pentax KP is highly capable to produce much sharper images with stunning details compared to its competitor, Canon 7D Mark II. On the other hand, the AF system of Canon 7D Mark II is getting much consideration because of its quick and accurate subjects tracking performance… Let’s see in details

Image quality

Interestingly, both use same APSC sensor, but the sensor size featured by Pentax KP is a bit bigger than Canon 80D. As a result, Pentax KP will capable to produce high resolution images, plus also reduce crop factor. Moreover, along with larger image sensor Pentax KP has more numbers of effective pixels spread out tend to result in less image diffraction etc. On the other side, Canon 7D Mark II has comparatively smaller image sensor plus lesser effective pixels as well.

Auto Focus

Canon 7D Mark II’s exclusive Dual Pixel CMOS AF (DPAF) technology and customizable Movie Servo AF, allowing the camera to provide continuous phase-detection AF during video recording for quick and accurate focus tracking of moving subjects. Canon’s own proprietary, Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which they first introduced in Canon 70D is an unprecedented sensor technology in which effective pixels are able to perform both imaging and phase-detection focus measurement simultaneously. As a result, we will see a very creative and dramatic AF performance for both video and Live View still imaging modes.

On the other side, Pentax KP is working with contrast detect sensor, however, a new AF algorithm was introduced in KP, but Dual Pixel CMOS sensor of 7D Mark II is astonishing. Moreover, 7D Mark II has Phase AF module that features 65 AF point areas for even more precise focusing, plus also helps deliver sharp focus for still photos even in extreme low-light conditions By the way, Pentax KP employs high-speed SAFOX 11 phase-matching AF sensor module out of its 27 focus sensors, 25 are cross-type sensors fabricated in the middle to assure pinpoint focus on the subject.

Image stabilization

5-axis Image stabilization mechanism inside Pentax KP effectively minimizes the uncontrolled camera shakes that we generally face in challenging lighting conditions. As a result, crisp and blur free images are the sure output of Pentax camera. On the other hand, Canon 7D Mark II doesn’t have built in image stabilization so you need to use the I.S lens to get crisp and gorgeous images.

ISO

For excellent lowlight shooting, Pentax KP is the amazing camera, offering an expandable ISO range of 819,200 to suit low-light cityscapes to action sports under the negligible lights. But 7D Mark II offers an expandable ISO range of 51200.

Shutter speed

The fast shutter speed of Pentax KP (1/24000 sec) allows the camera to capture sharp, crystal clear images with a wide open aperture at brightness levels as low as -3 EV. On the other side, Canon 7D Mark II allows you to use the faster shutter speed of 1/ 8000 sec only.

Continuous Shooting speed

Canon 7D Mark II has adjustable high-speed continuous burst shooting up to 10 fps enables the easy tracking and capturing of fast moving subjects almost at any location of shooting. On the other side, Pentax KP offers the shooting speed of 07 fps only.

Video

Interestingly, both the two cameras offer Full HD videos, but Canon 7D Mark II allows you 1080p @60fps, whereas Pentax KP restricted to 30fps only. The EOS 7D Mark II delivers refined and detailed image quality with Full HD 60p.

Shots

Canon 7D Mark II allows you to take around 670 shots at a time, whereas Pentax KP lets you take around 390 shots only at a time.

Verdict

Price of Canon 7D Mark II is higher than Pentax KP. However, Canon 7D Mark II is an excellent camera that gives you Full HD video @60fps, quick and accurate AF performance. On the other hand, Pentax may give you better imagery and lowlight camera.
