Sensors

Pentax KP has 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor while Nikon D500 has a bit small 22MP APS-C contrast detect CMOS sensor.

Nikon D500 has advanced and upgraded EXPEED 5 Image Processor combines 22MP APS-C contrast detect CMOS sensor to give better result with high resolution images with color contrast in different situations along with magnificent image quality, low –light sensitivity while Pentax KP features PRIME IV image processor coupled with 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor and produces the well-detailed images with high resolution along with minimal noise and notable low-light quality.

Nikon D500 has far superior expanded ISO of 50-1640000 comparative to Pentax KP, which has ISO of 100-819200 only.

Nikon D500 captures 22MP images @10fps while Pentax KP captures 24MP images @ 7fps.

AF System

Nikon D500 has used 153-Point Multi-CAM 20K Autofocus System including 99 cross-type sensors for better result in recognition of the subjects which has to be captured and the other 55 points used for better composition while Pentax KP features the high-speed SAFOX 11 phase-matching AF sensor which includes its 27 focus sensors, 25 are cross-type sensors positioned in the middle to assure accurate focus on the subject at a minimum brightness level.

Here the more AF points of Nikon D500 provides a wide range of focusing coverage accurately and quickly bring the subject into focus even in low-light conditions and also it helps to grab the large AF area of the subject in both moving and still position and also Nikon D500 has more cross type AF points compare to Pentax KP, which improves autofocus performance of Nikon D500 compare to Pentax KP.

Image Stabilization:

Pentax K-5 features 5 axis image stabilization of second generation whereas no Image stabilization present inside the  Nikon D500 camera.

ISO

The Nikon D500 has ISO range of 50-1640000 while Pentax KP has ISO of 100-819200.

Hence, the Nikon D500 has approx. 1 stop increases in ISO compare to Pentax KP which is definitely a little increase in ISO, but makes Nikon D500 superior compare to Pentax KP. Also the Higher extended ISO of Nikon D500 makes it more low-light flexibility.

The difference in ISO definitely makes the Nikon D500 camera to perform well in low light conditions. It also supported by the advanced and upgraded technology used in its sensor and image processor which controls the noise production even at  higher ISO and results in magnificent images even in challenging low light situations with increased dynamic range. It also provides the consistency in brightness during photography compare to Pentax KP.

Continuous Shooting Speed

The Nikon D500 has continuous shooting speed of 10fps limited to 200 frames while Pentax KP comes with 7fps.

Here Nikon D500 showed superior shooting speed due to advanced technology used in Nikon D500, it will come with better performer and offers impressive result during capturing fast action objects with more accuracy and also can track each and every action of the fast moving subjects more instantly compare to Pentax KP.

Video

The D500 offers 4K UHD video recording at 30, 25, and 24 fps frame rates and Full HD/HD recording at up to 60 fps, while Pentax KP supports Full HD 1080p video recording.

Display
