It looks like the current users of Canon EOS M3 will hardly go to get the updated version EOS M5 since the new version packs very little new specs except digital image stabilization for video purpose (professional shooters won’t go for this spec), more number of frame rates (continuous shooting drive) etc.

Canon EOS M5 vs Canon EOS M3
Image stabilization- The Digital IS with 5-axis image stabilization in Canon EOS M5 is the mantra for video applications that effectively minimizes the appearance of camera shakes for sharper and steady shooting. But this feature is missed in Canon EOS M5.
Continuous shooting speed– The scene which is occurring for only a second can even be captured in Canon’s EOS 9FPS. On the other hand, Canon EOS M3 has only 4.2fps that may fail to capture the specific action of the subjects.
Video– Canon EOS M5 features dual Pixel CMOS AF system that focuses fast on the desire subjects, which clearly means that the camera will capture high-definition (1080p@60fps), high-quality movies quickly and easily, no matter what the condition of light is. On the other side Canon offers 1080p at 30fps.
Display- The EOS M5 also comes with Large 3.2″ 1.62m-dot touchscreen LCD for shooting videos and stills at a variety of angles, high or low, with up to 85° up, 180° down.
Battery- Around 295 shots at a time is possible with Canon EOS M5 and on the other side you can take 250 shots only at a time with its predecessor (Canon EOS M5).
Verdict- If you want some new features (above mentioned) then go with Canon EOS M5, otherwise Canon EOS M3 is nice camera.
