Canon EOS-1D X MARK II High ISO Test At DPREVIEW

Canon-1D-X-Mark-II (1)After the announcement of Canon EOS-1D X Mark II in February, 2016. The camera sports 20.2MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor, Dual DIGIC 6+ Image Processors, 3.2″ 1.62m-Dot Touchscreen LCD Monitor, DCI 4K Video at 60 fps, 8.8MP Still Grab, 61-Point High Density Reticular AF II, Native ISO 51200, Expanded to ISO 409600, 14 fps Shooting, 16 fps in Live View, Dual Pixel CMOS AF and Movie Servo AF and Built-In GPS, CFast & CF Card Slots.
Now DPReview released its first studio tests of dynamic range and ISO performance with the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II.
Capture09The lab tested its Dynamic Range and found that the Canon EOS-1D X Mark and Sony a7R II which has massive 42MP Full-Frame Exmor R BSI CMOS Sensor and BIONZ X Image Processor, comes with relatively similar result in case of noise production .

While Canon EOS-1D X Mark II showed much improvement in case of dynamic range at low ISOs and also it comes with better result in high ISO Raw performance compare to its predecessor and just back of the Nikon D5. At high ISO test, it has a bit difference compare to Sony a7R II.

Dyanmic Range

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark II shows very similar amounts of noise to the excellent sensor in the Sony a7R II up until a 3EV push, with the Canon dropping behind after a 4EV push. It’s a similar story against the likes of the Nikon D750 or D810. This means that the darker shadows in a processed image would be slightly cleaner in images from these cameras, after contrast adjustments or a less extreme push. . See the full studio test

ISO Performance:

Although the 1D-X II shows significant increase in dynamic range at low ISOs in our dynamic range tests, high ISO Raw performance remains fairly similar to its predecessor, falling behind the Nikon D5, and even slightly behind the 42MP Sony a7R II, at very high ISOs. See the full studio test
