Sensors:-The Nikon DL 18-50 sports 20.8MP 1” BSI CMOS sensor coupled with advanced EXPEED 6A image processor to deliver fast overall performance including the production of impressive and well –maintained image quality with reduction in noise. While, Canon G5 X comes with 20.2MP 1″ CMOS sensor and powered by comparatively slower DIGIC 6 image processor.

Since, the advanced BSI CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6A image processor of Nikon DL 18-50 improves the video quality and supports recording 4K UHD video at up to 30pixels.

Nikon DL 18-50 and G5X have maintained the almost similar expandable ISO of 12800.

Canon G5X captures 20.2 files @ 5.9fps where as Nikon DL 18-50 captures 21MP files @ 20fps.

 

Optical Zoom:-Canon G5 X has optical zoom of 4.2x compare to the less zoom of Nikon DL 18-50 , which has 2.8x.

So due to large optical zoom of Canon G5 X  , the users feel better experience in capturing the subjects without walking towards the object at the same time they can also see the resulting images with more impressive and better quality.

AF system:-Nikon DL 18-50 has Hybrid AF system, which combines 105 phase-detect with 171 contrasts-detect points. Such higher AF points support the camera to shoot at 20 fps with continuous autofocus while the AF Points is not present in Canon G5 X.

So, the more AF Points Nikon DL 18-50 supports it to focus the images of a selected part of the subject and also it helps the users to track the subject in full frame resulting in wide AF coverage with more sharpness and accuracy compare to Canon G5 X.

 

Shutter speed:-Canon G5 X has faster shutter speed of 30-1/32000 while Nikon DL 18-50 has slower shutter speed of 30-1/16000.

Hence, the faster shutter speed of Canon G5 X helps to freeze action completely and comes with better result while the slower shutter speed of Nikon DL 18-50 doesn’t give impressive image and also the moving objects appear blurred along the direction of the motion.

So, Canon G5 X performs better comparative to Nikon DL 18-50 in case of freezing the action images.

 

Top Continuous Shooting Speed:-Nikon DL 18-50 has much faster continuous speed of 20fps compare to Canon G5 X which has slower continuous shooting speed of 5.9fps.

So, Nikon DL 18-50 will perform well with better result during capturing fast action objects and also can track each and every action of the fast moving subjects more quickly compare to Canon G5 X.

 

Videos:-Nikon DL 18-50 offers 4K UHD video at up to 30pixels while Canon G5 X supports Full HD video recording at 60, 30 and 24fps.

So there is no doubt the magnificent video quality of Nikon DL 18-50 will definitely impress the professional photographers compare to Canon G5 X.

Verdict- We will recommend DL18-50 for landscape and architecture shooters otherwise, Canon G5x is awesome camera for sports and wildlife.
