Our expectation from Canon 80D

Update – Canon 80D is announced and the core specification of the camera sits between the cureent rebel series DSLRs and flagship Canon 7D Mark II camera. You can read the  all comparison here

As we know canon announced a mid-range SLR Canon 70D on July, 2013. The camera features 20.2MP ‘Dual Pixel CMOS AF’ sensor which splits every single pixel into two photodiodes for on-chip phase detection and its fast and improved autofocus performed magnificently in live view and movie mode. It also comes with 19 point cross-type AF System and 7 fps shooting, ISO 12800 and intelligent viewfinder.

Hence after launching it was known as the first Digital SLR in the world to feature outstanding Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, which delivers smooth and accurate autofocus (AF) when shooting Full HD movies.

So, the specifications of the predecessor Canon 70 D is sufficient for raising our expectations from the upcoming successor Canon 80 D.

The one thing we should remember that Canon 7D Mark II has already launched on September, 2014. So there is lots of expectation that the upcoming Canon 80 D will come with almost similar specifications compare to Canon 7D Mark II.

So, we expect that the upcoming Canon 80 D will have APS-C-sized 20.2MP CMOS sensor supported by dual DIGIC 6 image processors to produce high resolution images with better color combination. It will also favor top continuous shooting rate of 10 fps. It will also feature all cross-type 65 AF-points and Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology that will improve its focusing speed much faster and will make it more accurate. It is also expected that it will come with native ISO 16000, which will be further expandable to ISO 51200, will definitely helps the users shooting during low light conditions. It is expected that it will support Full HD video recording at 1080pixels in multiple frame rates, up to 60 fps.

There is lots of expectation that the upcoming Canon 80 D will be announced at CP+ show, 2016.
