Sensors:- Nikon D5 has large 21MP FX-Format CMOS Sensor and supported by the upgraded and advanced EXPEED 5 Image Processor to produce high resolution images in various situations with high sensitivity and minimal noise and also maintains the better image resolution even in low-light conditions to deliver magnificent image quality, low –light sensitivity and better color combination while Sony A7S II has a full-frame 12.2MP Exmor CMOS sensor coupled with old BIONZ X image processor to produce better images in low light conditions.
Since NIKON D5 has higher resolution compare to the Sony A7S II and also it has fast continuous shooting speed, offers better 4K video recording compare to Sony A7S II. Hence these factors are sufficient to prove that Nikon D5 has superior image processor compare to Sony A7S II.
Nikon D5 has much better ISO of 50-3280000 comparative to Sony A7S II, which has ISO of 50-409600.
Nikon D5 captures 21MP images @ 14fps while Sony A7S II captures 12MP images @5fps.
ISO:– The Nikon D5 has expandable ISO 3280000 while Sony A7S II has expanded ISO of 409600.
So, the extended ISO range of Nikon D5 has 3 stop more than in comparison to Sony A7S II which is definitely better for the users to capture the magnificent images even in dim light situations with increased dynamic range without any noise production. It also maintains consistent brightness for the users capturing the images in changing light conditions.
Image Stabilization:- Sony A7SII has a 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization system, which compensates for five types of camera shake during handheld shooting of still images and videos.
Such type of system beneficial for those users who want to choose any type of lenses while shooting without facing any blur formation due to camera shake.
While there is no image stabilization system present in Nikon D5 , limited to lens-based IS only.
AF system:- Nikon D5 has 153-point Multi-CAM 20k Autofocus System which includes 99 cross-type sensors for improved subject recognition, and 55- points for better compositional performance. While Sony A7S II has 169 AF Points, which is comprised of 25 contrast-detection points and nine central AF point.
Hence, there is no doubt that the more advance AF points of Sony A7S II grabs more AF area of the screen and locates the real subject more quickly and also it is beneficial for tracking fast and randomly moving subjects and also the users can track the subject more effectively compare to Nikon D5.
Continuous shooting speed:- Nikon D5 has Continuous shooting speed of 14fps while Sony A7S II has slower continuous shooting speed of 5fps.
So, Nikon D5 will perform well with better result during capturing fast action subjects and also can track each and every action of the fast moving subjects more instantly compare to Sony A7SII due to its FAST AF tracking technology..
Video– Undoubtedly Nikon D5 is the first DSLR to offer 4K video recording at 30 fps, while Sony A7S II has the Internal recording of UHD 4K movies in multiple frame rates up to 30 fps.
So, the professionals will definitely go with for the higher resolutions of videos along with better video capturing time compare to Nikon D5.
Display: – Display of Nikon D5 comes with touchscreen that will enable touch and shoot facility as well as easy navigation compare to Sony A7S II.
