Whoa – Canon EF 24-70 F2.8L IS lens coming in next 18-24 months

EF 24-70 f/2.8L IS lens is a long time rumored lens but the current news posted over the web gives a little information that the Canon is still busy on this lens development.

The major thing that stopped Canon from its released is the lens larger size with image stabilization and that why Canon launched smaller EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II.

However, Canon is still in Dilemma to select the final design from atleast three prototypes. We are insisting to assume a BR element would be part of the development because the IS being worked on for the lens will provide better performance than anything currently in the Canon lineup.

So we think it would better if we don’t think about this EF 24-70 f/2.8L IS lens for the next 18-24 months until the Canon completed its complete work and announced.

  • The new lens is already there AVAILABLE for years! And it is called TAMRON.
After being a Canon user for over 35 years, I became VERY UNAMUSED about the anti-innovation policy in the Canon camp.
Finally, I bought myself a Sony A6000 a couple of days ago….WOW! I really, really LOVE this nice little thing because it is PACKED with innovation, ideas and great apps who bring back FUN and FASCINATION into photograpghy…. !
And the good news: I can use ALL MY CANON LENSES with even better results !!!
I want to kick myself that I waited years and years INVAIN for CANON to do something like that.
WE ARE NOT AMUSED, Canon guys! Bye bye. Hello Sony!
