As we know the Dragonfly Telephoto Array is a unique telescope with multi-lens array designed for ultra-low surface brightness astronomy at visible wavelengths. Since it was developed by the University of Toronto’s Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics.
At first the telescope was packed with only three lenses in 2013 but within two years the number of lenses increased up to ten.
With the use of 10 Canon 400mm f/2.8 IS II lenses , the users has increased their capacity of detecting extremely faint, complex structure around galaxies with more clear vision .

“Dragonfly is designed to reveal the faint structure by greatly reducing scattered light and internal reflections within its optics. It achieves this using ten, commercially available Canon 400mm lenses with unprecedented nano-fabricated coatings with sub-wavelength structure on optical glasses.”

The users have to pay an amount of $20,000 for 10 SBIG STF-8300M CCD cameras where lenses are mounted.
The third part Paramount ME-II robotic arm costs for just $15,000.
Hence the overall cost of the telescope is about $135,000.
